Today Tesla unveiled its latest branch of its company, Tesla Energy. This newest branch is focused on moving the U.S. from a power-grid to run households and businesses energy needs to eventually a grid which is completely solar powered. However, in order to get to complete solar energy independence they most first stop relying on the power grid. The first product of Tesla's to attempt this is called "Powerwall Home Battery," which is a battery that can run a person's house, without the need for a grid. THe product is a giant lithium battery that can be attached to a wall and makes running the house's energy needs easier. According to Tech Crunch, along with other problems, the main issue with these batteries right now is their high cost. For a 10 kWh battery, it costs $3,500 and for a 7kWh will cost $3,000. “The issue with existing batteries is that they suck. They are expensive, unreliable and bad in every way.” Elon Musk, CEO and founder of Tesla Motors said.
