Net neutrality begins to today. What does that mean? Basically, the internet is now a public utility and will be overseen by the FCC instead corporations who provide the internet such as Verizon (NYSE: VZ) or Google (NASDAQ: GOOG). This means that there are no fast and slow speeds on the internet depending on how much people pay. Also there will be no more back end deals or instances of corporations blocking each other like they did when companies ran the internet. According to CNN, Although many companies support net neutrality, there are plenty who don't. The companies who don't include Comcast and Verizon, who are some of just a few corporations suing the government for violating sections of the Telecommunications Act. So although the internet is run by the FCC under as a public utility it might not be for long. For more news on the internet, click here.
