Democratic presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump both agree that the economy is being hurt by unemployment. But what about people who actually work? Sanders is a big supporter of the common worker. According to CNN, Sanders presidential platform includes statistics like workers today work more hours than in the 1970s. Many of the statistics show how American workers work longer hours for less pay. One of the statistics shows that in 1979 the average worker worked 1,687 hours and now they work 1,836 hours. Another shows that the poorest worker works the longer hours. In 1979 the bottom 20% of earners worked 1,250 hours and they work 1,500 hours. With these statistics Sanders is gaining support to become a leading democratic presidential candidate . "The average American is working longer hours for lower wages." said Bernie Sanders.
